In addition to providing fully furnished offices to start-up technology ventures through CTech incubators, the Pre-Seed Fund provides start-ups with access to experienced investment managers, powerful partnerships and a solid track record of success.
The University of Bridgeport has a well known history of supporting innovation. Currently, UB is home to the state’s largest graduate engineering school. The University of Bridgeport currently has one of the largest business schools in the state. Its faculty and students are involved with projects covering the technology spectrum – from biomedical engineering, nanotechnology and wireless communication to next generation unmanned aerial vehicles. UB offers both specialized and interdisciplinary degree programs with market-driven concentrations and dual degree programs in business, technology / engineering, industrial design and health science required for success in today's competitive environment. In 2008, UB partnered with the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology to launch the CCAT Center for Robotic Simulation.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, the University of Bridgeport is rated as one of the safest residential campuses in the United States and is a recipient of the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award.
Connecticut Innovations is the State’s leading investor in technology start-ups. CI provides investment opportunities at every stage of company development. In addition to accessing the Pre-Seed Support Services Program, companies can qualify for seed investments through CI’s Seed Investment Fund. Later stage investment needs are met through the Eli Whitney Investment Fund and the Connecticut Clean Tech Fund. CI also makes financing available through its BioScience Facilities Fund to bioscience companies looking to build out wet laboratory and related space in Connecticut.
